On June 7-9, the stars of Ukrainian and Swedish literature will come to Poltava. While the active preparation of the program continues, the organizers have already shared the names of the first well-known participants of the festival.
„From more than 15 guests, we are ready to present the first five,“ said Olexander Tkachenko, the director of the festival „Meridian Poltava“. – It is an honor for us to accept the Hero of Ukraine Ada Rogovtseva. Together with Kateryna Stepankova and Volodymyr Maliarenko she will hold a creative evening in the theater named after M. Gogol. We expect that there will be plenty of people wishing to attend this event, so we further think over the technical part of the broadcast of the event on the outside. The concept „Meridian Poltava“ provides free entrance for all the events. There is also a form for open concerts, even chamber ones, which we plan in Theater Square. I present two teams of performers: Viktoria Poliova’s sestet and the band „Mannerheim Line“. Shevchenko National Prize laureate, composer Victoria Poliova will present the program „Gotland. Message to the island“. It is on the open stage of our city that there will be a story in the music of the remarkable Swedish island. The band „Mannerheim Line“ includes Serhiy Zhadan, Oleg Kadanov and Yevhen Turchynov. For the audience, they will perform musical compositions on lyrical texts written by Serhiy Zhadan. In addition, during the concert, Serhiy will declaim his poetry.
„They will share their create work and have the opportunity to get acquainted with Poltava and Swedish writers. Oleksandr Tkachenko is announcing two of them: „We look forward to meeting Lasse Söderberg and Angela Garcia. They are the artists with excellent experience in organizing the International Days of Poetry in Swedish Malmö. So we will be able to show the level of the festival and hear tips for its development“.
Organizers will soon please everyone with the full list of guests and the general program of „Meridian Poltava“ 2019.
The International Poetry Festival „Meridian Poltava“ is supported by the Poltava Regional State Administration, the Poltava Regional Council, the Culture Bridges Program and the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine.
