Volodymyr Rafeenko (1969) was born in Donetsk (Ukraine). Since 2014 he lives in Kyiv. Volodymyr Rafeenko is a writer, poet, translator, literary critic, essayist, film critic, lecturer. He is the member of the Ukrainian Center of International PEN Club.
For the novel „Moscow divertissement“ he was awarded with the „Russian Prize.“ For the novel „Descartes’ demon“ he was awarded with the „Russian Prize“ and the prize „NOS“. For the novel „Brief Farewell Book“ (1999), he was awarded with the Volodymyr Korolenko Prize of the Union of Ukrainian writers. He is also the winner of the Visegrad Eastern Partnership Literary Award for his novel „Long Hours“ (2017). In 2019 his first novel in Ukrainian language „Mondegreen. Songs about death and love“ was published. (Meridian Czernowitz Publishing House).
