Poetess, writer, essayist, translator and journalist
Ilma Rakusa was born 1946 in Slovakia, as a daughter of a Hungarian mother and a Slovenian father. She studied Slavic and French literature in Zürich, Paris and Saint Petersburg. She writes poems, short prose and essays and is also known as translator and journalist. For her literary work she has received numerous awards, in 2009 the Swiss Book Price. Ilma Rakusa lives in Zürich (Switzerland).
