Yael Globerman – Poet, fiction writer and translator, was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is the author of the novel Shaking the Tree (1996) and numerous short stories, as well as the highly acclaimed poetry collections Alibi (2000) and Same River Twice (2007) which earned her prestigious fellowships and awards. Her poems were translated into many languages and have been widely published in anthologies and magazines in Israel as well as in Europe and the USA.
Globerman translates a wide range of classic and contemporary English language poets. She is the translator of a volume of verse by Stephen Spender, and her Hebrew translations of a selection of poems by Anne Sexton, Lessons in Hunger, is forthcoming. She lives in Tel Aviv and currently teaches creative writing at Oranim College and the Minshar Academy for Art. She is the head of the writing program at the Helicon Poetry School and an editor of Helicon magazine.
