Boris Khersonsky was born in 1950 in Chernovtsy, Ukraine. He graduated from the Odessa Medical Institute and works now as a Department Chairman in Odessa National University (Department of Clinical Psychology). Aside from his numerous poetical works he is also the author of six monographs on psychology and psychiatry.
Poems by Boris Khersonsky were first published in late 60s. During the period of 1970-1980 he was one of the most important figures of samizdat poetry in in Odessa. His first book, “Vosmaya dolya” (“Eighth”) was published in 1993. Eleven more poetry books were published in Ukraine during next twelve years. Probably the most important poetry work by Boris Khersonsky, “Semeiny arhiv” (“Family archive”), was published in 2006 in Moscow by “Novoe Literaturnoe Obozrenie” publishing house. Two more books, “Ploshchadka pod zastrojku” (“Project site”) and “Za ogradoy” (“Outside the fence”) were published in Moscow this year.
Boris Khersonsky is a laureate of “Kievskie lavry” poetry festival (2008), twice laureate of International Voloshin Poetry Contest (2006, 2007), his book “Family archive” was short listed for Andrey Bely literary prize in 2007.
