Claudia Dathe (1971), a translator by profession, studied Russian and Polish languages in Leipzig, Pyatigorsk and Kraków Universities. From 1997 to 2004 she worked as a lecturer in the German Academic Exchange Service in Kazakhstan and Ukraine. In addition to practical and theoretical studies on translation, she conducted courses for raising efficiency for the future literary translators out of the University.
While living in Kiev Ms. Dathe learned Ukrainian language and started her own translation activities. After her return to Germany Claudia began working as translator of Russian and Ukrainian languages and she continues to conduct seminars for translators. Since 2009 she has been working in Tübingen University as project coordinator for literary translation. She translated into German many Ukrainian composers such as Sergiy Zhadan, Alexander Irvanets, Tanya Malyarchuk and Sofia Andruchovych.
She lives and works in Jena.
